The Akaroa Mail, ‘The Talk of the Peninsula’ is a small, old-established (1876), totally independent printed newspaper serving the residents and visitors to Banks Peninsula, on the eastern side of New Zealand's South Island.

It is published every two weeks, with a current print run of about 10,000, and is delivered free to all houses on Banks Peninsula, as well as being available as ‘please take one’ copies at shops, cafes, and accommodation providers.

By publishing only strictly first-run specially-written (‘exclusive’) local news and features the newspaper gets tremendous readership and loyal engagement. In a small geographical area the amount of advertising available is limited. There are ever-rising costs of printing and distribution. We’d also like to be able to afford to print more pages and more news and features.

The newspaper is available on subscription for $100 a year for people living off the Peninsula (outside the free circulation area) - and it would be really nice if at least some people who get it free could contribute similarly towards the on-going costs of maintaining its high standards and independence.

To do that, please select a payment option below.

If you would like to advertise in the newspaper or to organise a subscription for copies to be posted to you please email michael@akaroamail.co.nz

Thank you very much indeed!
